How Maui brought fire to the world

One day after a big meal Maui stared at his fire and thought, “Were does fire come from". Maui was curious so he decided to find out. That night when everyone was asleep, Maui sneaked out and extinguished all the fires in the world. He then went back to the whare and waited. The next morning there was uproar in the village. All the village people were frightened all the fires were gone. They called for Taranga, he was there Rangarira and he solved all there problems. “Someone needs to get some fire from the goddess," Mahuika” Taranga said. None of the villagers wanted to go to the scorching mountain where she lived so Maui offered happily because  his plan is working. Maui reached the red hot mountain; he said a karakia before entering. Mahuika was as red as a fox, her eyes were black holes. Maui explained to Mahuika that all the fire is gone and they need some more, so she gave to Maui her nail of fire. As Maui walked he thought “what if Mahuika had no fire left” he then through the nail in the lake and asked for another one and through this one away to. He then went back for another one; Mahuika did not suspect it was a trick. This happened for a long time until Mahuika was furious and through a toe nail on the ground. Maui was surrounded by flames. Maui turned into a hawk and flew away but the flames singed his wings so he flew into a lake. But the heat of the fire boiled the water and Maui called on his ancestor Tawhirimatea.  A lot of clouds came and all the fires including the mountain no longer were burning. In anger Mahuika through her last toe nail at Maui but missed and hit the Mahoe, Totara, Patete, Pukatea and the Kaikomako trees and cherished in Mahuikas fire. When Maui returned to the village he didn’t have fire but he teaches them to make fire with the trees that Mahuika burnt. Now to this day the native Kahu hawk of aotearoa still has the red singed mark underneath its wing from when Maui changed into a hawk.

Fingerprints.

Fingerprints are amazing if you think about it because if you look at all of your fingerprints they will all look different. All fingers have different patterns in there print. Fingerprint have one or more of a L.A.W which stands for loop, arch and whorl. Also fingerprints can be a source of evidence in a crime scene for example: If a forensic scientist found a fingerprint at a crime scene they can match it to a suspects
fingerprint. Fingers have fraction ridges which are raised portions of an epidermis that’s on your palms, fingers, soles and toe skin. To find a fingerprint most of the time scientist use this magic chemical powder so that they can see in better.

Computer And TV Habits.

Click, click, tap, tap. How much computer or TV do you watch a day?Around 3-4 hours a day?Harmless right or so you think. The average child watches around four and a half hours a day on the computer alone. What you don't realise is what your doing to yourselves by watching a little TV.TVs and computers have these colours that make up the screen blue, red and green and by looking at the screen of your computer to long and in the dark can effect your eyes. The lighting in the room can change as a commercial comes on.I know I'm so intelligent.

As you were growing up as a toddler did you have a TV programme you used to watch? Most of you properly did but did you know that the first two years of your life is critical and TV can effect your ,exploring, playing and interacting with others. Also the more TV a toddler watches when there young the more likely they are to getting fat, bullied, bad at maths, inactive and having bad behaviour in the classroom.New Zealand study's showed that the more hours spent on a TV lead to high % of dropping out of school later on in life.

How long are you planted in front of your TV?Well did you know it is scientifically proven that there are more then 1,000 29 month old babies and there TV habits.29 months old that's only approximately 870 days old.The TV can not only effect you later on in life but it can also effect you now.If you have a Facebook you can come across some people that cyber bully you and that can cause you to feel sad and down.

If everyday you watched three or more hours a day you are doubling your risk of a premature deaf.Rather then someone who only watches one or less hours a day.Do you really want to die early I don't and think about all your family that would miss you they would be heart broken.A survey found that out of 2,445 children around the age of five to sixteen two out of three of these have computers. That's 62% of children that have computers and around half of these can access the internet in there rooms that's 42%.Toddlers that watch around 2 hours a day on the computer are wasting 30 days and 10 hours of there life's and the recommended amount for a kid is under 2 hours. It can also make your power bill go through the roof.

I'm not saying that you have to stop watching TV or using the computer all together I'm just saying you need to cut down on all the electronic devices and do something active.I hoped you liked my speech and learned a lot thank you for listening.Goodbye everyone have a great day.
